Support Services and Resources

Supportive Measures

Complainants who report allegations that could constitute covered sexual harassment under this policy, have the right to receive supportive measures from Monroe Community College regardless of whether they desire to file a complaint.  These supportive measures may include counseling, extensions of deadlines or other courses-related adjustments, modifications in on-campus work or class schedules, campus escort services, restrictions on contact between the parties (no contact orders), changes in work or housing locations, leaves of absence, increased security and monitoring of certain areas of the campus, as appropriate.  Supportive measures are non-disciplinary and non-punitive.

On Campus Resources

There is no fee for MCC students for Health Services or Counseling Services.

Within 96 hours of an assault, you can receive a Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (commonly referred to as a “rape kit”) at a hospital. While there should be no charge for a sexual assault forensic examination, there may be a charge for medical or counseling services off-campus and, in some cases, insurance may be billed for services. You are encouraged to let hospital personnel know if you do not want your insurance policy holder to be notified about your access to these services.

The New York State Office of Victim Services may be able to assist in compensating victims/survivors for health care and counseling services, including emergency funds. More information may be found on the site for Office of Victim Services and Forensic Rape Examination (FRE) Direct Reimbursement Program, or by calling (800) 247-8035.

To best preserve evidence, victims/survivors should avoid showering, washing, changing clothes, combing hair, drinking, eating, or doing anything to alter physical appearance until after a physical exam has been completed.

Sexual contact can transmit Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) and may result in pregnancy. Testing for STIs and emergency contraception is available through:
